Below are some phishing email detection checks:
Suspicious sender: The sender's email address may look similar to a legitimate one but with subtle differences or misspellings
Urgent or Threatening Language: Look for messages that create a sense of panic or urgency to scare you into taking action without questioning it.
Requests for Sensitive Information: Be wary of emails asking for your password, credit card details, or Social Security number.
Unexpected Attachments or Links: Don't open attachments or click on links in unexpected emails.
Grammar and Spelling Errors: Phishing emails often contain poor grammar and spelling, which legitimate organizations usually avoid
Report a phishing email
- On a computer, open your SKC email account
- Open the suspected phishing message but avoid clicking on any of the links
- click on the red "phishing" hook in the right column
