We ask that you only use the Staff, Faculty & Adjunct Faculty email lists for announcements that pertain to College operations.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Policy and Procedure updates and information
- Potential grants and other funding opportunities
- Professional development opportunities, including SKC Inservice dates and information
- Grant Awards
- Internal position announcements, personnel changes
- Upcoming important dates
- For example: when graduation applications are due, course registration information, course evaluation information, timecard reminders, bookstore approvals/adoptions/title notices
- Course cancellations
- Faculty Council Updates
- Time & Effort Report Requests
If you are unsure, sending it to the SKC Bulletin Board is probably best.
When sending an email advertisement for a personal fundraising effort, please use your email address/account - do not use a department or group account.
Below are examples of things that should be sent to the SKC Bulletin Board:
Plant starts available, reply-alls, thank yous for Community Service Day, Department Weekly Updates, Items for sale, Free Massage Chair, Bookstore advertising, lost keys, lost glasses, lost clothing, found phones, found keys, Easter egg decorating, housing for rent, burrito sales, events not sponsored by SKC, Potlucks, boxes available, cabinets available, desks available.
Please be aware that all emails sent to the Staff, Faculty, and Adjunct Faculty email groups are moderated only during business hours and then either approved or rejected on a case-by-case basis.
Emails sent to any of the email groups after business hours are not processed until the following business day.
Here are some guidelines that comply with the CAN-SPAM Act:
- Include an opt-out: All commercial messages must include an opt-out. (the opt-out link is in the footer on every SKC bulletin board email, so all "for sale" emails need to go to the bulletin board, not the staff, faculty, adjunct faculty, etc groups)
- Identify as an ad: Clearly state that the email is an advertisement or solicitation. (add "for sale" or the price to the subject line)
- Include a valid address: Include the sender's valid physical postal address. (at minimum, provide your contact information)
- Avoid misleading information: Don't use misleading header information or deceptive subject lines. (add "for sale" or the price to the subject line)
- Be specific: Be clear about who you are and why you are emailing.
