IT Services is located in the Charlo Building on the SKC Campus. We have two distinct Departments that serve the IT needs for SKC; Administrative IT Services and Academic IT Services. Our team is dedicated to learning and understand the technological environment within Higher Education and then looking for the best solutions to meet the needs of the Students, Staff and Faculty and to support the Mission of Salish Kootenai College. DO NOT CONTACT GOOGLE for help with your new SKC EMail. Contact IT Services for help with your SKC EMail account. Google only provides the Email Platform, we at SKC IT Services Administer the Service. Contact the Help Desk at ext. 4357 or Sam Williams, Director of Administrative IT Services for Help with your SKC Email Account. The ITSS Help Desk is located in the ITSS Deparment in the Charlo Building. When you enter the building you will keep to the right to find ITSS. Yolanda Matt manages the ITSS Help Desk. The Help Desk, as well as the rest of ITSS, provides direct service to Students, Staff and Faculty. The Help Desk is your first point of contact for ITSS. If you are a Staff or Faculty member with access to SKC Email you can Email ITSS by: 1. Logging into SKC Email http://mail.skc.edu. All emails are sent to the Help Desk and copied to the ITSS Technician who handles that type of request. An Example would be all requests for "Help with Software" goes to Yolanda Matt who is the main PC Support Technician. Once the Help Desk receives the call it is entered into the Departments Call Tracking System "CaTS". You will receive a message from CaTS once your call has been entered into the system and a technician has been assigned to the call. You will then receive Emails from CaTS whenever your call has been updated and finally, when your IT issue has been resolved, an Email that states your call has been closed. If you would like to speak with the Help Desk you can also dial ext. 4357, from any of the phones on the SKC Campus, or if you are off-campus call 406-275-4800 and ask for extension 4357.
SKC IT Support Services is fortunate to have two strong Academic Programs, Information Technology and Computer Engineering, to recruit students from to fill the Intern positions. The Intern program gives our SKC students experience working for an IT Department and hands on experience with real world problems. The Interns are members of the ITSS Team and are responsible for Help Desk calls as well as self paced projects. The experience they gain working with ITSS, along with their Academic skills, allows our students to succeed in the Information Technology Field once they have graduated. Currently all Intern Positions are filled.
